After last nights bbq at Paul's, we were ready for some relaxing, and browsing art for hours sounded amazing.
We went to a place called 798 which is a HUGE colllection of artists from around the world, and it has a rich history. I won't go into the details, but it started out as a place outside of the city (away from heavy government influence and control) where artists could congregate and be more free to be artistic and expressive. It has now ballooned into a giant plot of artists living and showcasing their work; all of these are in old weapons factory buildings, so the spaces are giant and after an artists touch, they are amazing. I don't have many pictures since most exhibits were un-photographable.
giant buildings that the exhibits were in
one such building's inside
then we got some drinks and I was teaching these two some dice
We had to come back to the apt for Alec to do some of his last grading of the year . . .
. . . and when he was done, we rough-housed it and scattered the papers everywhere
